PRP - Platlet Rich Plasma - Chelsea Face And Body, Chelsea NYC

Use the Components of your own Blood to Reverse the Signs of Aging

“PRP” or Platelet Rich Plasma is the process of taking your own blood and enriching (or super charging) it with your own platelets and then injecting the growth factors that help skin and tissue be both healthier and more vibrant. This process can be completed 100% in our office and involves your own blood and no other additives or medications.  It's 100% natural and can be used in a number of different applications from aesthetics for improving skin elasticity and firmness, hair growth on scalp to sexual health challenges. Chelsea Face And Body offer our patients a PRP treatment for radically reduced healing time and obtaining optimal results.

PRP Injections For Hair Growth

PRP is a concentration derived from your own blood. It has lots of good growth factors that stimulate hair growth when injected into the scalp. Not all PRP for hair loss is created equal. When it comes to stopping hair loss, a 5-10x concentration of platelets is best. Achieving this concentration requires more sophisticated and expensive technology than a simple centrifuge. Depending on the intended use, PRP may or may not contain red or white blood cells. But, by definition, PRP contains a concentration of platelets that is higher than your blood.

PRP Injections for Facial Rejuvenation

PRP is autologous platelet rich plasma meaning that is is derived from your own blood. PRP Therapy has been clinically used for more than a decade and has proven to be safe and effective. PRP Therapy is a great alternative for patients looking for facial rejuvenation but are hesitant about injectable neurotoxins or synthetic fillers.

When PRP is combined with dermal fillers, such as Restylane, Perlane or Juvederm it is often referred to as the “Vampire Facelift®” or “Vampire Therapy”. These combination therapies enhance the “lift” effect and improve patients’ facial texture, tone and volume. PRP can also be used as a Chelsea Face And Body Combo Treatment™ with our Eclipse Micropen and Fractional Co2 Laser.

Autogolous plasma is very rich in platelets that contain growth factors and stem cells. After treatment, we remove the PRP from the test tube and put it topically on the treated area which is immediately absorbed through the skin creating a soothing effect by significantly reducing inflammation and discomfort. Additionally, studies have shown that not only is your healing time reduced by up to a third, but when your skin does heal, your dermis is twice as thick as non PRP treated skin, your stratum corneum is better organized and your melanocytes have been further suppressed. When you choose Chelsea Face And Body, you are getting a team of aesthetic professionals. We work together to come up with a cohesive skincare solution that will attain long lasting, even life changing results.

PRP - Frequently Asked Questions

How is the PRP extracted from me?

Preparation is simple and quick, and completed at Chelsea Face And Body at your appointment time. Before the PRP treatment, we take a small amount of blood in a special test tube and spin in a centrifuge for 10 minutes to separate your red blood cells from your plasma. The rich platelets are extracted from the base of the plasma gel. We use these platelets to either infuse into the skin with a MicroPen,  injected into the deep dermis or fat layer of the skin or into the scalp for hair growth.

How does PRP work?

Platelets induce an inflammatory response to initiate healing. Platelets release a large amount of growth factors and gradually increase collagen which can increase skin thickness and overall health of the skin.

Is PRP Painful?

Patients usually tolerate the injection well. However, there can be soreness after the injection due to the PRP-induced inflammatory response. You can expect swelling and soreness during the first 48 hours post injection.

What facial and body areas can be treated with PRP?

  • Orbital Rim – Around the eyes
  • Cheeks and Mid face
  • Cheeks
  • Crepey skin on the neck
  • Back of hands
  • Décolletage
  • Scalp for Hair Growth
  • Other Body Areas

Are results immediate after PRP?

No. Immediate swelling and wound healing are obvious at first sight. However, collagen rejuvenation can take from 6 weeks depending on the condition of your skin and lifestyle.

How long do the results last?

As we are regenerating collagen lasting results will depend on the care and maintenance of your skin. However, 2-3 treatments will help results last up to 18months.

What can I expect after treatment? Can I return to work immediately?

Redness, swelling, slight pain, bruising or all these signs can happen in the treatment area. These side effects usually subside in a few hours to a few days. Post care instructions will need to be followed through.
Most patients will return to work immediately.
